Only Together
Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth (MCCY)
As if the COVID period wasn’t tasteless enough, Singaporeans gave the term ‘social distancing’ a whole new meaning when cases of racial discrimination suddenly spiked.
So, for Racial Harmony Day, MCCY wanted to encourage everyone to celebrate their commonalities (and differences), share common spaces, and see that there is unity in diversity.
Harmony is all around us.
To convey to our audience that togetherness can only create harmony between us, we produced a music video that features everyday scenarios in our shared spaces. From students having a friendly “battle” at school to commuters graciously offering a bus seat to an auntie and neighbours coming together in the heartlands, the way our cast members interacted with one another and how we’ve seamlessly blended various music genres aim to encourage our audience to put our differences aside and celebrate the common threads that bind us.
